ABOUT US

The ‘Forward Motion Hare Scramble Championship’ series began hosting hare scrambles in the state of Kansas in 1979, known as the ‘Kansas Hare Scramble Series’.  In 1994, the series expanded to include parts of western Missouri and adopted the current name.

Our Vision

At Forward Motion Hare Scrambles Championship (FMHSC), we believe off‑road racing should be accessible, affordable, and unforgettable. As a family‑ and veteran‑owned organization, our mission is to make dirt bike riding a sport where everyone—young or old, novice or expert—can find their place on the course.

We’re committed to delivering exceptional value to our riders: keeping fees low, extending course time, and ensuring every event feels like a full‑throttle weekend of adventure.

Our two‑day format brings families and racers together—Saturday’s open practice and special fun races for service members/ EMS (Military, Police, Firefighters, First Responders, Veterans, EMS), and Ladies of all ages foster camaraderie and respect, while Sunday’s lineup of big bike and peewee races celebrates skill, endurance, and community spirit.

Every lap, every medal, and every smile reflects our core belief: riding isn’t just a sport—it’s a shared experience that builds confidence, friendship, and lifelong memories.

Our Race Day Format

We’re proud to offer one of the most family‑friendly and rider‑focused formats in the region. Our dedicated peewee loop stays open all weekend, giving young riders unlimited practice time and a safe space to build confidence. Every peewee racer receives a finisher medal, and our three peewee classes—PWA, PWB, and PWC—create clear, age‑appropriate entry points that prioritize safety for even our youngest competitors.

Sundays feature three big‑bike races designed to challenge riders of every skill level. The first race begins at 9:30 AM and includes the Women’s, Juniors, and Vet 50+ classes on a flowing 3–4 mile course. At 11:30 AM, the second race takes off with C, C‑Vet, Sportsman, and Trailrider classes on an approximately 6‑mile loop built for momentum and endurance. The final race of the day starts at 2:30 PM, offering the most technical and demanding terrain for our A and B riders.

After the peewee races wrap up at 9:30 AM, the peewee course remains open for practice riding for the rest of the day, ensuring families get maximum value and plenty of seat time.

Our Race Season

We hold 12 series races each season, which runs from March through early November.  The races are almost all within a 2-hour drive of Kansas City.

Off-season events are scheduled in the winter months as well.

We recognize the delicate balance between hard core race events and the need for a beginner friendly track. The four-course format facilitates gains in skill and confidence while keeping safety in mind.

We encourage overnight camping at all season events because we want this to be a family event. We try to keep our tracks and pits safe for all riders and spectators.

We hope you will come give us a try and become a part of the Forward Motion Family!
